Helps you Find your Ideal Apartment and Get the Absolute Best Price.

There are many storage facilities to choose from, but only one can meet your specific requirements. If you are looking for a reliable storage facility, please click here to find a place to put all your prized possessions.

When searching for a storage facility, look for the following features:

Climate-controlled.
Heavily guarded and constantly monitored. Cameras, security officers, and the like are things that all storage facilities should have.
A variety of different size storage spaces.
Insurance coverage, if applicable. Self-storage and Pickup and Delivery Services have different liability when it comes to your items (See below). Additional insurance is usually available.
Clean and maintained facilities.

Ask the following questions:

Who has access to my possessions?
Would I be able to obtain my possessions at any time?
Will there be personnel, besides guards, at the facility to help me when I need it?
What kind of insurance does this facility carry in case of an unforeseen event?

In general, there are two types of storage facilities.

  1. Self-storage:
Self-storage, otherwise known as Mini-storage, works best for items that you are likely to retrieve, but don't have available space at home. The great aspect of a mini-storage unit is that it is accessible by you at any time because you are provided with your own lock and key. Units come in a variety of different sizes and shapes in order to accommodate your needs. A self-storage unit is usually rented on a monthly basis under an "occupancy agreement". These facilities allow you to store items in your given unit yourself, but also give you the option of requesting pickup if an item is too heavy or bulky to move by yourself. Make sure you talk to a representative from the storage facility in order to establish the liability of the driver with regards to your items.

Many self-storage facilities claim no responsibility for your items, but additional insurance is usually available for a fee. You may speak with a representative of the storage facility or your insurance agent to find out how to put extra security on your items.

  2. Pickup & Delivery Services:
With regards to a pickup and delivery service, a container(s) will be delivered to your home. The driver will provide you with instructions on how to load your items. Go to the Pack Your Belongings section to find out how to safely store your items. You will be given all the time you need to pack your items in the container and you will be given a lock and key to close up the container. Subsequently you can call the service to pickup the container in order for it to be stored in the facility. Depending on the facility, you might not be allowed to pickup your item without advanced notice. If you are choosing a pickup and delivery service to store your items, it may be wise to store items which you will not necessarily need in the near future. You will need to determine the number of containers.

Pickup and delivery services usually have more liability with regards to your items, but speak to a representative from the facility beforehand in order to get all the needed information.
